Boys and girls, 'cab' does not mean 'faster'. I'm waiting outside a clinic room now for an extended prescription because i arrived at one for a twelve-twenty appointment. I know. That's horribly late. But i had to take my grandfather for a CT scan in the morning, and that appointment was only made yesterday. I stood for twenty minutes along Geylang Road, unable to get a cab to save my life, and when a white Mercedes does arrive, there's a jam everywhere. The icing on the cake is that while my doctor refuses to see me now, he's only now seeing a patient that arrived at twelve twenty. What's the point of enforcing your punctuality when you're not punctual, either? I'm probably going to be the last patient he sees today, which should be just great.

for all those enamoured with the Microsoft Zune because of its 'huge, high-resolution widescreen' that will 'kick the iPod video and Apple's sorry asses so bad', could you once and for all note that:

1 - it is not a widescreen. it is a standard 4:3 aspect ratio screen, just like the iPod with video. just because it looks wider when you turn it around sideways to watch video and view photos doess not make it a widescreen. it's because things tend to look wider in their horizontal orientations than their vertical ones.
2 - it is not of a higher resolution that the iPod. it has the same 320 by 240 pixel resolution, but is a few centimeters larger than the iPod with video's screen, making it a coarser display.
3 - that's all.

it's two AM, and my sister is showering for the first time in over twenty-four hours. ew.

cooked this just now.


last Friday i accomplished a lot. i:

-got my DKNY chronograph fixed,
-collected my replacement identity card,
-extended the validity of my passport,
-bought cake mix and frosting at the Paragon Marketplace,
-bought a 8" by 8" cake pan at the Paragon Marketplace,
-bought a set of measuring cups, whisks, mixing bowls, a rubber spatula, a lovely grey plate and oven mitt at Ikea.

all this cost me less than fifty dollars, but sadly is more or less the last of my spending money. but. whatever makes you happy, right? and the cake's delicious.

doesn't anyone ever wonder why on earth they bother obtaining sketches or other illustrations of court proceedings?

we get the idea that cameras are not allowed inside. you have footage and pictures of the defendants and plaintiff before and after the proceedings.

what are the bloody scrawlings for?

also, it takes a special kind of idiot to go for an appointment at a government hospital and not bring anything along to wait and pass time with.

oh well, it was good while it lasted.

and now, why Nokia doesn't allow their phones to be called 'phones'. if you can't make it out, the screen says '-Calculator- Insert SIM card'. and yes, of course, there is actually a SIM in it.

the Nokia 8850 blacked out. the screen illumination flickers and the screen itself occasionally blanks when pressure is applied to the top bits of the phone. unable to afford Nokia Care, i've taken it down several notches to this Nokia 2100.

my new phone

for real this time, people---i am broke, and my phone line got suspended 'cause i can't pay it, y'all. and for some reason this is the only phone i own in which my prepaid card will work properly in. besides, you don't think i would seriously use the Nokia 2100 full-time, do you?

those of y'all who don't have my prepaid card number can call or text me at my usual number; for now my postpaid line is still accepting incoming communications.

life, i believe, is about balance.

i had a very crappy night, but i finished it with a perfect grilled cheese sandwich. that balances things out.

i was using my prepaid card in a crappy pink/purple Nokia 2100, and the SIM stopped working. i stuck the SIM into a silver Nokia 8850, and it jumped right back to life. 

my family is crazy. as am i, if you believe everything that's said about me.
