Digital Life, Analogue Brains
the introductory paragraph to "Go legit, get less?" on page four of this week's Digital Life, an article by Alfred Siew about copy-protection technologies:
wow. i am hooked on their writing. it's like being lured by an earthworm on a rusty fishing hook. disgusting and equally painful.
and, to demostrate my Mac bias, the wonderful review for the new iMac Core Duo. which was released over two months ago.
with regard to the Mac Guy side of the article, written by "Ramesh", a "die-hard Apple geek", how does the reduced maximum RAM capacity (from 2.5GB to 2GB) affect the fact that Rosetta-translated applications are going to run slower than Universal ones? how does it relate?
with regard to the Mac Girl side of the article, written by "Mardiana Ismail", a "freelance writer (and you can see here why she isn't a full-time writer)", how can you blame the iMac for not being able to pick up the signal from your wireless router when your wireless router was set up to only accept a connection from your iBook? and, having discovered that that was the issue, how could you even mention it in your aritcle? that was entirely your own fault!
after one glaring PEBKAC, i gather doubt and decide that the other two issues she encountered were of similar origin. it is probable that she doesn't know how to properly burn a DVD-R or restart a computer.
but her verdict was the pièce de résistance.
yesa. fragment as the first sentence, period where a colon was due, pseudo-aspirational vocabulary and writing, unsuitably causal language, and a final verdict that is contradictory to half of the article. yes-ah.
"They may sound like the lastest pop sensations, but MediaMax and XCP are not exactly boy bands. These are software programs, included on music CDs from..."

"So, to weigh the options. Would I settle for all this troubleshooting grief, just for the sake of a little stylistic indulgence? Nah, hold off on the first batch, wait for the software updates and hope and pray for the best."

the commonwealth games
i don't really think it's fair that there are English people representing England, and Chinese people representing Singapore.
of course, i don't think it's fair, either, that there are Chinese people representing New Zealand, either, but clearly us Singaporeans are trendsetters. congratulations, China! we've a medal!

la pluie
great. it's raining. i want to be outside, out and about, not stuck here mourning a dead laptop hard drive and my failure in laying out.
there is more, but i am loath to type any more.

missing things
there are many, many things i miss about China.
but, right now, it's living all on my own, but with my friends.
sometimes, i wish i hadn't gone on that trip.
you can't miss what you never knew.

sideannoyance
i have 1.25GB of RAM and can hence run whatever the heck i want all at once (right now that's--in Dock order--Safari, iTunes, Camino, Firefox, Adobe InDesign CS2, iChat and fourteen Dashboard widgets.)
yet i quit sidenote, because it is annoying when i don't need it.

my father came yesterday. so i went out and spent more money than i originally wanted to, yesterday.
hmm. that's not a lot, actually. maybe i should have bought the navy jacket at Zara...

it never rains, darlings...
so, now, it's a deluge. this is one of four new colors for the PEBL.
the other colors are green, orange and pink. in the same pastel, "summery" shade.
this is a joke. it has to be.
migraine, migraine...

cabin fever. really.
omg my life fucking SUCKS.
i am LOCKED in my room with my three siblings.
the doorknob BROKE, and i told my siblings not to close the door all the way. of course, my INQUISITIVE IDIOT of a brother did just that when he went to take a look at it.
and it's THREE AM, and everyone else is asleep.
and i will never be able to get to sleep knowing that i'm trapped until the rest of the household wake and try to get our door open to switch the A/C off.

busy with work/snappy combacks/dramatic life
it's not like i don't understand. i mean, i'm the most ridiculous understander i know. it is my life, accepting things that are completely and utterly unfair, without putting up much of a fight, or even any fight at all. but, just, abrasive much?
and that goes for two wholly separate conversations i've had today, in the scant hour that i've been awake.
so not the way i brought myself up, but sometimes it's not worth it at all to prolong a conversation. being nice is occasionally very over-overrated.

"let me blow ya mind"
"Some of y'all ain't writin' well, too concerned with fashion
None of you ain't Gisele, catwalk and imagine
Alotta y'all Hollywood, drama, passed it
Cut bitch, camera off, real shit, blast it"
this song makes me giggle uncontrollably. especially this line:
"None of you ain't Gisele"
i don't know why, it just does. yeah. must be the way she (Eve) says it.
job week
when scouts (ew) come around during job week, it is not appropriate to have them fold offerings for qing ming as a job.

wah, O.C. got style, siah
so instead of their usual Previously, on The O.C., voiced by a cast member (usually Mischa Barton, though), this week they have something different. Mischa Barton disdainfully says this, instead:
If you haven't watched The O.C. in a while, here's what you missed.
wah, if (i) haven't watched The O.C. in a while worhz. like if ne'er watch can die like that.

i'm thinking of modifying my blog template again.
